At Concentric, our recruiting philosophy is simple: we’re in the business of building relationships, not just filling positions. With thousands of candidates crossing our recruiting team each year, we approach every interaction with enthusiasm and respect.
We are thrilled to bring you Concentric Chronicles, where we highlight the journey our employees have taken to get to us and how their journey has been amplified with Concentric. Introducing Timm Davis, a Protective Intelligence Lead Contractor who is our next feature!
What motivated you to join our company?
I initially wasn’t looking for a new job because I had just started a role at AIG, but a close friend told me an intelligence analyst position at Concentric (a company I’d never heard of at the time) had opened up, and I’d be a fool not to apply. I did some digging and immediately fell in love with the company’s culture and its people. It’s near-impossible to find a security company that cares about DEI or green initiatives, and Concentric’s renown in the security industry is second to none. Each and every leader had a reputation for being fair and hard-working, while the intelligence team I was set to join had a manager who was known for being forward-thinking and taking care of her people. To my delight, it was all true!
What advice would you give to new employees who are looking to grow or start their careers within our organization?
Within any organization, I would say to find a manager who will act as a mentor and guide while also looking out for your best interests. Look at who you will be directly reporting to – I would rather work for a great manager at a bad company than a bad manager at a good company.
If you’re looking to build a career at Concentric, you’re in luck because it’s a great company with great managers. Say yes to absolutely everything and be someone who can be relied upon.
How have your career aspirations evolved since you joined Concentric?
The private intelligence field is constantly evolving, and it’s important that we evolve too. To that end, I’ve started leaning more towards becoming a program manager within the private security space so I can not only have a direct impact on bettering products and services but also mentor up-and-coming professionals.
Can you share a specific moment or project that significantly contributed to your career advancement here?
Through a series of odd but unfortunate events, I was put in charge of building Concentric’s insider threat program. Concentric paid for my training, and I received a lot of mentorship from various leaders within the company on what makes an effective program manager. I was able to use that experience when interviewing for my current role as a Protective Intelligence Lead, and I’m now the manager of several travel, executive, and online risk programs.
How has the company culture and environment supported your career progression?
Concentric is a place where learning and growth is highly valued, no matter what role you play or how long you’ve been here. My managers were the first to note I would be perfect for my current role and they supported me not only throughout the entire hiring process but even to this day.
