What is a typical day for you like at Concentric?

A typical day at Concentric has actually changed for me recently as I’ve stepped into a new role with our team and I’m now focusing on more of the training side of things. A lot of what I’m doing currently is building out plans, schedules, and setting up sessions with different members of our team to go over different tasks, skills, scenarios, and various other items to help ensure that those critical and perishable skill sets remain fresh for everyone on the team. I’m really looking forward to seeing where that goes as we continue to build it out and implement some new processes in the near future. In addition, though, I am still supporting my previous role in some capacity, as I fully transition and wrap-up any remaining punch-list items or projects. So, I am also enjoying getting to dual-hat a little bit in a sense. It’s also nice to get to continue supporting the team that I have had the opportunity to work with over the last couple of years. They’re absolutely wonderful and it’s such a pleasure to get to work with all of them and to have been able to build those relationships.

How long have you been at Concentric and what part of your job do you find most fulfilling?

I have currently been with Concentric a little over two years now, having started back towards the end of 2022. The part of the job that I personally find to be the most fulfilling is the opportunity that we have to serve the customers that we do and how we get to support a number of various different team(s) in a multitude of different ways. Whether it’s through a simple task or finding a solution to a more complex problem, I find both to be equally as fulfilling because it means assisting with the success of something that goes beyond and is much larger than yourself. I also find it to be extremely rewarding and I am truly grateful for the relationships and connections that I have had the opportunity to build over the last few years with those different team(s). The wonderful people, collaboration, and effort that is shown by these team(s) really makes all of the difference!

What is your educational and professional background before joining Concentric?

Prior to joining the team over at Concentric, I dived into the logistics industry for a few years and spent some time working for both FedEx Express and a sub-contractor for On-Trac. Before that, I was a 13R (Weapons Locating Radar Operator) with the U.S. Army for about 6.5 years. During that time, I supported our nation’s mission in Afghanistan under Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, deploying to different parts of the country on two separate occasions. After leaving active-duty service, I decided to continue serving part-time through the National Guard. However, seeing as this was back in 2020, it ended up being a pretty wild first year in the Guard as we were activated on two separate occasions that year. The first being for the George Floyd Protests and the second as part of the larger overall COVID-19 mission response where we had the opportunity to work very closely with local foodbanks across the state to both help them maintain their operations and also to distribute food to those in need and that were directly affected by the pandemic. Education wise, I am currently working on finishing my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Analytics with a concentration in Market Research & Consumer Analytics (Go Beavs/PAC-2!!).

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my dog (she’s a Shetland Sheepdog named Layla for the Eric Clapton song), hanging out with friends, or getting out to the mountains and going on hikes. One of the things that I really enjoy about the area is how there are so many different things to do all within about a 2–3-hour drive. Outside of that, I really enjoy baseball and getting to go the games, as well as going to different concerts. I actually had a thing going for a while where I made it a point to go to at least one a year. I was successful in doing that for about 10 or so years until the pandemic unfortunately ruined it, but I’ve recently gotten back into it and I am now back to 2 years in a row of making that happen. While I don’t get to do it as often as I used to, I also enjoy playing video games when I have the opportunity. In addition to going to car shows or car meets when I have some spare time.

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

I’m really looking forward to a lot of different things over the course of the next year both personally and professionally. Personally, I’m looking forward to continuing my education journey as I get closer to finishing my degree. I’m also looking forward to hopefully planning out some more trips to new places as I enjoy getting out to explore and experience new things when I can. Professionally, I just recently transitioned into a new role for our team, so I am looking forward to seeing where that takes me and how I can continue to develop and assist the program over the course of the next year. I’m also looking forward to seeing where the team goes as a whole as we continue to expand and serve new customers. We’ve grown a lot over just the time that I’ve been on the team and I’m excited to see where that journey will land us in 2025.
