What is a typical day for you like at Concentric?

A day in the life of an Executive Protection Specialist with Concentric strikes a dynamic balance between concierge level customer service and meeting the security needs of our client. We help facilitate not only principal movement and safety, but also assist in the routine operations that encompass keeping the client’s residences and corporate spaces up and running. Our responsibilities range from route reconnaissance for client movement and boat transfers for the principal, to escorting housekeeping staff while in sensitive areas of our client’s home. We embody a “jack of all trades” approach to our work and are often a necessary entity to facilitate collaboration and mission accomplishment between other departments in our sphere of work. We present an ever ready and always willing team, assisting in any way we can to help keep our client’s life safe, efficient and private.

How long have you been at Concentric and what part of your job do you find most fulfilling?

I have been at Concentric now for close to two years, starting this position in October of 2022. I was one of seven original members that kicked off a new associate level Executive Protection team for our principal. We hit the ground running and formulated new and improved upon standard operating procedures for our client, as seamlessly as we could. The most rewarding aspect of my role so far has been responding in real time to direct requests from our principal. For example, there was a moment in recent memory when our principal requested an impromptu boat movement on a day with severe weather. I and another member of our team were able to safely carry out this request and fulfill the needs of our client, even under unideal circumstances. It’s these moments of feeling like we’ve made a difference that I find to be the most rewarding.

What is your educational and professional background before joining Concentric?

Prior to joining Concentric, I served in the Marine Corps for four years as an Infantryman and achieved the rank of Non-Commission Officer before an honorable discharge. After my service, I worked as a Defense Contractor with Constellis and Triple Canopy in Afghanistan for approximately five years. After the events that unfolded in Afghanistan in the summer of 2021, I enrolled in Executive Protection school through Executive Security International in Grand Junction, Colorado. The class is a grueling and in-depth seven-week course covering every aspect of Executive and Covert Protection. I am pleased to say I was the top graduate of my class and a few months upon completion, accepted the position as an Associate Executive Protection Specialist with Concentric.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Outside of work I am an avid gym goer and have a longstanding interest in fitness and nutrition. In addition to my regular occupation, I hold the National Academy of Sports Medicine’s certification as a Personal Trainer and have regularly been involved with weightlifting and exercise dating back to my teen years. Leading an active lifestyle has always felt like a fulfilling pursuit to me and has absolutely assisted me in my career as a security professional. My other hobbies include mixed martial arts such as jiu-jitsu and boxing, cooking, rock climbing and hiking. Thankfully, the Pacific Northwest provides ample opportunity to fully pursue all of these.

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

Over the next year, I am excited to see the further evolution of my Executive Protection team and I look forward to watching our organization grow and thrive as a whole. Our team was brand new when we started, and we entered an arena with many new challenges and demands. So far, we’ve been able to meet, and I believe most of the time exceed what’s been expected of us. There have been many long hours, early mornings and late nights, but when our team coalesces as a unit and completes the mission set before us by our client, there is no better feeling of satisfaction. I look forward to many more days with this team keeping our principal’s life running safely and smoothly.
