What is a typical day for you like at Concentric?

Well… most days I dev (write code) most of the day. I’ll get started around 7:30, take an issue or two off of my backlog, have a meeting around lunch, and then get back to it. Because we’re a small team, I also manage infrastructure for some of our applications which I’ll usually do in the late afternoon, if needed. As of late, I’ve been getting some redundancy training in networking from our IT manager, which tends to be a pretty fun one hour block once or twice a week.

How long have you been at Concentric and what part of your job do you find most fulfilling?

I’ve been at Concentric since February 2020. Generally, I enjoy the creative freedom I’m able to exercise in my day-to-day; there’s a lot of space for me to generate new solutions and systems, and to do so with my own imagining.

What is your educational and professional background before joining Concentric?

Concentric was my first landing spot out of undergrad, UCLA. I studied Political Science, minored in Geographic Information Systems, and took additional CS courses on the side. While in school, I interned at the State Department and was a researcher at an internet lab.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

1. Open sourcing

2. Writing, experimental fiction

3. Pickup (basketball or soccer)

4. Riffing on my MIDI keyboard

5. Surfing

What are you most looking forward to over the next year?

We’ve got some big projects in the works, some of which involve some pretty unique tech. I’m looking forward to pushing a couple of those into production.
