We are excited to introduce you to Nick Hill, MBA, a Global Threat Manager with Concentric Advisors. Joining our team in 2017, Nick brings an extensive expertise in risk, security, threat, and intelligence to our team supporting clients.
What is a typical day for you like at Concentric?
I currently work as a global threat manager serving a single client. I work across stakeholders within the client organization to build security programs, particularly in travel risk management, protective intelligence, and global threat management. I’m also the risk intelligence lead working to identify, monitor, and report on active and emerging threats to the client’s facilities, employees, and executives. No two days are the same and I enjoy working on both program management and risk intelligence every day. I get to engage with a diverse group of people doing really meaningful work around the world!
How long have you been at Concentric and what part of your job do you find most fulfilling?
I have been with Concentric since 2017 and have worked with the same client from the start. Being embedded with a client can be like having two families and it has been rewarding to see the impact Concentric has had working with a client over a longer period of time. I think the most fulfilling moments are when I see employees have success abroad implementing philanthropic initiatives to solve challenging problems. Knowing that they have the tools, resources, and information necessary to be safe and successful brings our security team a lot of pride.
What is your educational and professional background before joining Concentric?
Prior to Concentric, I served in the United States Marine Corps as an intelligence officer and worked in higher education overseeing safety and security for a public university’s global activities. I have a bachelors in political science and an MBA from Washington State University.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I miss touring breweries and distilleries and am excited to hopefully get back to that when it’s safe to do so. I like a bit of aimless exploration of new places, trying new restaurants and meeting new people but that too has been tough during the pandemic. I enjoy reading, writing, and debating about political philosophy, business, and geopolitics. I’m always up for a healthy debate and promise to provide good food and drink.
What are you most looking forward to over the next year?
I am most looking forward to a return to travel. Professionally, I miss supporting employees and executives as they travel around the world and I wouldn’t mind dusting off my own passport. I’m excited for the publication of ISO 31030 – Risk management — Managing Travel Risks later this year and the great collaboration and conversations resulting from it. This year my partner will be completing her PhD and I can’t begin to express how proud and excited I am for her!
